dear book,my name is cori. well, if we're being accurate, it's coriander, which sounds a bit like a boy's name...as does cori, actually. but it fits, and anyway, i'm very much a girl - just to be clear.
i live in st. andrews, scotland. we're implants from surrey, as of about five years ago, so i've not much of a scottish accent to prove it.
we live a spell away from town, among the farmlands and country roads. we're a short walk from the cliffs, which is my favorite spot on earth. i could listen to the waves pound the rock for hours.
last born of four children, i'm the only sister, and a bit of an "oopsie" baby, as the boys all put it. you see, jamie, the youngest of the boys is fourteen years older than i am. let me introduce you proper.
althea emytria lovett. this is mum. bit of a free spirit, kindest person alive. fellow huffle, wicked smart, retired healer midwife.
john howell lovett, my da. ravenclaw alum, digest writer, deep-thinker. witty as all-get-out. comes off as reserved, bit of a stutterer, but absolutely lovely.
and we're on to the boys - all of them ravenclaw! howell cavender lovett is the eldest. he's bookish and sincere. he's on the ministry's education committee. he's thirty-four with a wife and family in london. emmet sidion lovett, thirty-one. brilliant, awkward, a lot like da. he's on sabbatical in india on some fungus research. and lastly, james alphard lovett, twenty-nine, bit of a black sheep, if you will. also married, but we've never met her. i don't really want to think about whether or not he's tinkered with the dark stuff. i've always loved jamie best, but i haven't seen him in ages after the last row with mum and da.
and well, that's my family. bit nutty, but they'll do.
oh! how rude! i've forgotten scamp!
my lovely little tabby, white toes on his front feet and galaxy eyes. he may not be able to deliver a letter, but he snuggles so much better than an owl!
i shall be back soon with more updates! it's my solemn promise to keep a faithful book this year, and i shall do better than my other failed attempts!cori
