"I'll be fine, mum," she assured her mother. After the mishap in Knockturn Alley, her mum had been rather overprotective. It was only right but she had been a little too protective. Kim had hoped that she would lighten up after a few weeks but it didn't happen. It was more like her parents were treating her like she needed constant care. Then again, she should be happy that her parents cared that much. Some weren't so lucky as to have parents like hers. They had demanding jobs but they always seemed to find time for her. Another reason had to be that she was their only child. Losing an only child would be absolutely horrid. She gave her mother and father one final hug and boarded the train. "Bye." She took a seat in an empty part of the train. Honestly, she didn't feel like getting up to find her friends. The incident in Knockturn Alley did leave an effect on her. It made her feel weaker. She felt like she had let her family down. She hadn't been able to explain the overwhelming rush of relief when she saw her father at the hospital beside her. He had asked her why she was so worried. Kim couldn't bring herself to tell him about the letter. A few moments later, her compartment filled up with a few of her friends who found her. She forced herself to smile a little for them.

The train ride was pretty amusing. She had left a little early since she had to meet up with the prefects. Kim left the welcoming feast a little earlier than usual and decided to go find her assigned dorm. It wasn't hard. She had lived at Hogwarts for most of her life. Now, where was that room? Finally, she found it but there were noises coming out of it. She found that the door was open a bit. The Slytherin decided to edge it open a little more. Peeking in, she saw a scene that she had never thought that she would witness. It was none other than Jessica, the person behind her stay at St. Mungo's. She was not exactly sure how to react to Jessica cutting herself. It was morbid but she was slightly glad that Jessica was hurting herself. After sending her to the hospital, she had hoped that karma would get to Jessica soon. On the other hand, she wanted to rip that wand out of Jessica's hand.

She closed her eyes. "What should I do?" She muttered the question to herself. No, she'd get revenge on Jessica soon. If the cutting didn't stop, there would be no way for her to get revenge. Getting attacked like that had hardened her spirit. She would not forgive nor forget how weak she had felt in the hospital. Kim pushed open the door to show her presence. "Trying to take the easy way out, Kane?" She put on a false show of bravado. Inside, her sympathetic part didn't want anything else to happen to the weeping girl. It was fighting with the side that hoped Jessica would just die. "Surprised to see me out of the hospital?" The weeks that were spent in the hospital didn't weaken her sarcasm. She chose a bed that was far from Jessica and sat down gingerly. They must have been mad to give her this room. She'd rather stay up shivering in the common room.
