It had been exactly two days and four hours since Gray had last seen Kyle, his boyfriend of eight months, and the Vet was missing the other male badly. So bad that, even though they were going to be seeing each other that night, he was sending him an owl. Sat at the small table in his kitchen, Gray scribbled across the parchment, a goofy grin on his face.
Kyle,
I miss you and I know we're going to be seeing each other real soon but it's not soon enough. I got something for you for tonight, took me ages to pick it out. I promise you'll love it!- Grayson x SEBASTIAN VINCENT CARROW

Sebastian had gone off work for a few hours. He had been working a lot in the past few weeks much to his surprise approval. He enjoyed how distracted he could be from his ridiculous life by a few hours of obliviating someone else's. He shook off the fatigue of the day and set down his light jacket in his organized office. It was one of the few places he felt comfortable in himself. Seb yawned, looking at his uncluttered desk and a letter. What was this? He glanced around outside of his office a moment before opening the letter, brow furrowed. Nobody mailed him. Unless they were pissed at him, like savannah. But never usually at work. Unless he initiated it. Seb read the first word and let out an irritated sigh. Wrong desk. Kyle was a few offices over, but being a nosy ass, Seb had to continue reading. His world seemed to tilt at the name on the bottom. The man sat down, reading over the letter again and again. He didn't know how long it would take for that name to resurface in his life. But today was not the day he'd been preparing for. It took a moment to get the nerve to work up a reply.
Grayson,
You seem to have mis-sent this owl. Might want to invest in a better bird next time. I've confiscated this letter for the intrusion of my time. - S
He sent the letter away before he could stop himself. Unbelieving that this would even happen. Sebastian also developed a profound dislike for Kyle. The letter was rude. His letters usually were. But this way he'd get a reply.

Grayson frowned down at the letter in his hands. Seb, his owl, had clearly dropped the letter at the wrong office, an honest mistake, did that warrant the rude reply he'd gotten? Gray didn't think so. And this 'S' person had confiscated the letter to! Gray didn't think that was fair but there wasn't much he could do but reply. Grabbing another piece of parchment, Gray quickly set about writing 'S' another note. Hopeful that an apology would clear things up.
S,
Hey! Sorry about that, Seb gets a little confused sometimes, there are a lot of offices up there. I'm sorry for the inconvenience but could you pass the letter on to Kyle Garroway? Please? I'd really appreciate it.- Grayson x He wondered if asking S to pass the owl along to Kyle was a bit too much. But he figured the guy, or girl, owed him after sending the less than friendly reply. He rolled up the parchment and passed it to Seb, allowing the snowy owl to carry it away.

The dark haired ass of an obliviator waited impatiently for the reply. His heart pounded and looked up from his work every few seconds for the bird and the familiar script of the man he knew he still never wanted to lose. But it didn't take too long before sebastian looked up to see the letter once again. Hope raised in his chest, it was the kind that he didn't know what he was hoping for, but he hoped anyway. Thinking that his letter could change everything, yet knowing it would not and he was being unreasonable. Greedily, Sebastian opened the letter, being swift but careful as to never tear it. He read it sowly, feeling his chest swell at the name that the owl possessed. Seb. But as he put the quill to paper he found it hard to be mean to this kind hearted boy. It was always his weakness, the genuine man who never saw a fault in anyone. Until Seb taught him otherwise.
Grayson,
No,Though it could depend on when he returns- I take it he's a romantic interest of some sort?
Interesting name for an owl, how did you choose it? I hear fluffy names far too often. - Seb S
The change of tone was undoubtedly due to the fact that he tried so hard to come up with a snippy reply to say No, right off the bat. But this was Grayson, the always kind, steadfast gray that meant too much. He forgot his code for a moment and wrote his name at the bottom as he had many times before in their letters but scratched it out with such ferocity that his quill and ink tore through the paper.

Turning the volume dial up on the radio, Gray moved about his apartment, singing at the top of his lungs to some cheesy pop song as he cleaned up for his date with Kyle, only stopping when Seb flew back through his open window. Heading over, Gray stroked his fingers over Seb's head and fed him a treat once he'd taken the letter. Seb hooted in response. Sitting on one of the stools around his breakfast bar, he pulled the letter free and frowned almost immediately. No but it could depend on when he returns? Why couldn't this S person just drop it off in Kyle's tray or something? He was tempted to ignore this S person, because really, what business was it of theirs if Kyle was his bf or why he'd named his owl Seb. Except the longer he left it the more it bugged him, it would be rude not to reply wouldn't it? And maybe if he made small talk, S would pass on his letter.
S,
Ah, yeah. Kyle is my boyfriend, actually. Do you work with him?
It's... kind of a long story, aha. I guess I just like the name.- Grayson

This reply took longer than Sebastian thought it should have. He waited for the letter then realized he should be doing work. He had field work he was putting off to receive these chain of letters. Sebastian desperately wanted to tell him, have Grayson acknowledge him for who he was and not an alias, but that was absolutely out of the question. His heart pounded when he received another letter, even though he knew it couldn't have been that important. He did ask a question about the name of Gray's owl, which had been named Seb. Was there hope in the world? Or should he never think about that? He was a death eater, a terrible human being, there was nothing that made him deserve Gray. And he seemed happy. Sebastian took a beat, moving away from the letter, he had to maintain this.
Grayson,
Yes.
I, for one, have never met a Sebastian I particularly like. Which, I assume, is the long name of "Seb". I wonder what won your fancy of the name. - S
He wrote the letter carefully, as to not give himself away. But it intrigued him. Was he just overthinking this? Perhaps he had no correlation to the owl at all, and this was just Grayson loving the name his ridiculous parents picked out? Maybe he didn't make an impact on the boy at all. And by how much Sebastian hurt..hurts after breaking up with him. That was for the better, as much as he hated to acknowledge that.

Gray chewed at his lower lip as he read and then re-read the letter. There was nothing special about it, just another short response, but it was the question and the memories that question raised that had him staring at the piece of parchment in his hand. The face of his ex boyfriend, a face he had worked hard on keeping at bay, broke through his defenses. Sebastian. It had been a while since the former Gryffindor had thought of his ex-boyfriend. There had been a time where he hadn't been able to go a day, an hour, a minute without thinking of Sebastian. The other man had been a constant in his thoughts, even after the break up. Gray had gotten better at keeping him out of his mind though and being with Kyle had helped a hell of a lot. In fact, Gray had been pretty sure he would've gone crazy being haunted by his memory of Sebastian if it hadn't been for his current boyfriend.
S,
Ha, I'm sure there are some good ones out there. I've met one or two myself. My uh, my ex boyfriend was a Sebastian, actually.
So, What's 'S' short for?- Grayson

There it was, his name was mentioned. He could hear the delicate and beautiful voice of Gray saying it as though it was just yesterday that he'd heard it. Seb pursed his lips, thinking about the very reply that he could muster. His excitement to hear more about the first part, about the boyfriend and what he thought of him, that Sebastian disregarded the second half of the letter in his reply. He couldn't make up a name that started with S because that would be a lie. But to expose himself right now meant destroying his heart once again. Seb knew that Gray had to hate him, it was partially why he'd avoided him all these years. Because he couldn't accept the hurt, or the anger that would settle on the face that should forever smile. The obliviator also knew that he would be a danger to a boy like Gray. Partially because he's already hurt him, even if it nearly killed him inside to do so, and because he ran with a crowd that would potentially hurt him further.
Grayson,
Normally an Ex's name asserts a negative connotation. I'm surprised you've thought so fondly of this 'Sebastian' as to name your bird after him. - S
Sebastian set down the quill and sent away the letter, noting Kyle returning to his desk, a dark look covered his face and he turned quickly back to the paperwork he'd started.
