Rose clutched the small piece of parchment in her hand, scanning over the scrawling handwriting for what felt like the millionth time. The number of emotions she’d felt upon first receiving the letter were overwhelming, and all she’d been able to do was stand by her window, a look of deep concentration settling over her features as she attempted to figure out just what she was going to do. The letter in question was from one Thaddeus Lestrange, someone she hadn’t really spoken too since their breakup a few months back. Any of the redhead’s friends would tell you that she’d been head over heels for the Slytherin alumni, and didn’t understand what had compelled her to break things off… but Rose knew that the reason behind their breakup was a valid one. He cheated with some random tramp, and when she’d found out she’d almost instantly been turned into a sobbing mess. She’d decided to send him a note later that night after a few glasses of wine had been consumed, letting him know how messed up it was, and that she was just done with it. She hadn’t heard anything back, and assumed that she was just supposed to be another notch in his ruler. It took a few weeks for her to get back on her feet, but she’d moved on, (at least that’s what she kept telling herself), but his letter had spurred a whole new onslaught of emotions. She’d apparently left large amounts of clothing at his Ireland home, and he was requesting that she go and pick them up. If she was honest, the idea of seeing him again was thrilling… but the rational part of her brain was telling her to just telling him to owl them back to her. But Rose wasn’t exactly known for being rational when it came to men.
It took her another hour to finally decide that no harm could come from going there with the sole intention of picking up her clothes, and she quickly scrawled out a note, saying that she’d be there in about an hour. Once the letter was sent, Rose immediately jumped into action; she had exactly one hour to make herself look fabulous. The shower was her first destination, and she took her time washing and conditioning her hair before jumping out, drying her mane of red curls with a charm before heading to her closet. After thumbing through the hangers for a few moments, the redhead picked out a fitted sweater and a pair of her favorite jeans. All that was really left to do was her makeup, and she easily took care of that with a few cleverly placed charms.
She looked herself over in the mirror one last time before grabbing her wand, locking her apartment door, and apparating to their meeting spot. The cottage looked just as she remembered it, and as she approached the door, nervous butterflies started to flutter around in her stomach. It took a few calming breaths before she could drag up enough courage to knock on the door, and once done, she stood there, nervously chewing on her lip as she waited for him to let her in.

His mind wandered quite often when it had come to his past. The memories he had with his siblings growing up; and the relationship he had shared with his sisters when defending them against their own- utterly insane- father. Thaddeus would play upon all of that as soon as he had stepped foot into the cottage that had freed him of all that. Once he had come to a complete finish with school, he had quickly moved out of the Lestrange home making an attempt to keep what had been left of his sanity. The abuse, rules- the vindictive behavior from the man he called father- he was bound not to have an ounce of sanity left whatsoever. But, something had changed him slightly. Something that had meant a little more to him than holding up his family name. Rose Weasley. Yes, Rose.
Thaddeus wasn't one for hiding things from his father for fear of loosing everything to that man; but with Rose, now that was different. Deep within the small redheaded Weasley had grown on him- she had made a mark on him that no other woman had and it was mere to impossible with wiping her from his mind. She was beautiful and.... He loved her. But because of his faults and misplacement, Thaddeus had been found in the wrong place at the wrong time. A setup thanks to his very own friend who had refused to see the two together knowing that it was wrong and going against the name. But what was he to do? The woman he had been setup with wouldn't leave; and he did find it quite odd that her timing was on queue.
But, aside from that, Thaddeus had bigger things to worry about right now -- There he sat, his hands folded neatly in his lap as he had found a place to sit in his open family room. His fingers gently stroked the side of the chair as he had read Rose's letter over a couple more times. After not speaking with her for a couple months -if not more- Thaddeus feared what would happen. But why? Why on earth did he have to care so much for someone like her. He was a Lestrange and she... Well, she was a Weasley. Who on earth ever heard of such a thing. - A small knock came at the door sending Thaddeus clear from his chair. The loud noise startled him greatly as he ran his fingers through his dark evenly cut hair. Reaching slowly, he grabbed the knob and opened the door. There next to the morning glory's stood Rose- beautiful as usual. But, he refused to compliment. "Come to gather your belongings?" No. He was more so hoping she would come back tp him. He didn't wish for her to leave- although, he couldn't hold her back.

Whenever Rose did anything at the shop that didn’t require much thought, (such as dusting or restock shelves), she found that her mind tended to wander. It usually began moving towards trivial things such as what she was going to make for supper, or whether or not she felt like going out shopping after work. However, there were certain days where it drifted to more important things… like her past relationship with Thaddeus. She couldn’t help going over every single detail, analyzing each and every moment to see if there was something, anything she could’ve done to change the outcome of their short-lived fling. Each time she did this, she came to the same conclusion; there were absolutely no warning bells leading up to the event that was the deciding factor in their breakup! It was very strange, and all logical reasoning suggested that she was missing something, but the redhead had gone over it so many times that she thought it impossible. Merlin, the only reason she’d caught him in the act was due to an anonymous owl she’d received, informing her that her boyfriend was out with someone of the female variety. She was skeptical, but showed up at the given nonetheless, only to find that the letter was correct… he was out with someone else. Her immediate reaction was to throw the nearest object at him, which looking back definitely wasn’t a very good idea, as the object in question was a wine glass. But the anger and hurt she’d felt was enough to stop any sort of logical thinking. She swore a number of times before the large lump in her throat overcame her, and grabbing her wand form her back pocket she apparated away in one quick, fluid motion.
Shaking her head slightly, the redhead forced herself from her memories, a small frisson running down her spine as she attempted to shake the intense hurt that still lingered from her body. That part of her life was over, and she had to move on. There was no other option. Sighing, Rose smoothed out her sweater before grabbing her wand and apparating to the cottage, not really sure what to expect when she got there. Would he be happy to see her? Or would it be a sort of forced affair? Merlin, she hoped it wasn’t the latter, as she’d never been good with awkward situations. But whatever his reaction, she would remain calm and composed; the perfect picture of confidence. Because she wanted to show him that she’d moved on, that she didn’t need him to make her happy… and as mean as it sounded, she wanted him to hurt as badly as she’d hurt.
It took a few moments for her to strike up enough courage to knock on the door, and when she finally did it was much softer than she’d intended. As soon as the oaken door opened, Rose switched into business mode, a cool smile settling over her features as she took him in. He looked exactly as she remembered him, and it took all the strength she possessed not to break down then and there. But she had to remain strong, if just to reinforce the idea that she was perfectly fine. ”That was, if I remember correctly, your request.” She replied, walking forward and attempting to slip by him and into the cottage. ”Where have you put them?”

There she stood before him- the very thing he had risked his life for just to see. And now, he was falling behind once again and loosing what he had cared deeply for. It was an absolute mess with him- in fact, his entire life was at the moment but he couldn't allow for that to get in his way. -- He watched Rose closely as she had entered into his summer home. The same place they had shared a few moments of pure intimacy. "Yes.... Just come right in." His sarcastic tone lingered in the home as he too stepped forth and followed her before closing the door behind them. If he had a choice and a possible way, Thaddeus wouldn't allow her to leave after this. And this part of Thaddeus was strongly unusual; the boy had never cared about anything only himself.
He stood there cautiously watching her. "Yes, of course. And by request, I wish that you would stay longer than only to retrieve your belongings and be on your way." Thad took in a deep breath before continuing over to his liquor stash. His hand grasping firmly around, an already, partially filled glass. Reaching to the other side of the bar, he grabbed a bottle with his free hand filling the glass to the brim. With a steady hand, Thaddeus raised it to his lips and pressed gently as the cool, yet warming, liquid touched his lips. The thoughts of the setup ran through his mind as he brought back that moment he had caught him and another locking lips on a sofa. How she had found him was beyond thought. But the guilt laid heavily even though it shouldn't have. It was a setup.
"You're clothes are there." He pointed to the small oak table near the two. "Rose..." Thaddeus placed his glass down and slowly continued to stand close to her. He wanted so badly to reach out and grab her- to hold her in his arms once more and assure to her that he would stay far from those friends that had stood him up. But, the hard part was getting her to believe that it was all a setup and that he truly didn't push himself on the woman. - Thaddeus had a horrible reputation with women and doing wrong in relationships, but something about the Weasley girl forced him to change even though he hated admitting it. "We must talk... You have to hear me out just this once --and, if you don't wish to believe me then don't. But, I can't loose you." Thaddeus quickly grasped her hand, placing it to his chest- which was a complete first. Any other woman he would have allowed to leave and never come back. But the hold Rose had on his was strong and he couldn't fight it.
Thaddeus gave a slight squeeze to her hand, gritting his teeth. "It was Micah who had set me up, Rose. Why? Because he can't stand to see me with you. But, I won't let you just walk out of here and not listen to me." He took in a deep breath closing his eyes briefly. "I want you to know I never slept with her. I had never allowed myself to go any further than that kiss that she had forcefully laid upon me." His eyes were hard, he wanted her to listen. He wanted her to see that he wasn't lying to her. He had no reason. "Belive me, Rose Weasley."

The small cottage held so many memories; it was the place they'd escaped to whenever one of their family members was being particularly bothersome, or when they'd just needed a break from the real world. It had been their little getaway, and being there again was bringing back a multitude of memories. She could still remember the exact words they said to each other in almost every conversation, and the first argument they'd had while living there. As she retraced their lives there, a small smile settled across her features, and her eyes took on a slightly glazed look. She was so entranced that she almost didn't register the door opening, and had to remind herself that she was meant to go inside. Shaking her head slightly, Rose made her way into the cottage, trying her hardest not to brush up against him as she slipped through the narrow doorway. Touching him would just be unacceptable; it would bring back to many good memories... And she couldn't afford to let a crack in her armour show.
The redhead could feel his eyes on the back of her head as she made her way into the small living room, something that only prompted her to hold her head even higher than before. It was imperative that he saw how well she was doing without him, and that his betrayal had only barely affected her. That was, of course a huge lie, but for the moment she was willing to keep all her hurt and anger bottled up. She turned around to look at him as he spoke, her hand absently drifting up to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, that same hand freezing somewhere near her temple as he suggested she stay for an extended period of time. Up until that point, she'd done a rather good job of playing the game, but his suggestion had not been a pre-planned part of that game, and Rose never had been very good with spontaneity. "And why would I ever wish to do that?" She asked, her voice taking on a much breathier tone than she'd anticipated. Curse her stupid female emotions that were set off by the smallest of things. Thank Merlin he hadn't really bothered to look at her before heading over to what she assumed to be his alcohol stash. If he had, he most definitely would have seen her flush a pale pink, and that would've ruined everything.
As he spoke, she nodded and briefly glanced over at the small pile of clothes before looking back at him, a pale red brow quirking upward as he spoke. He hadn't used her name in such a long time that it caught her off guard, although not enough to stop her from moving away as he walked towards her.
She flinched as he grabbed her hand, briefly closing her eyes before reopening them, the previously calm pools of blue turning dark, the pent up hurt and anger now clearly visible. "I don't want to talk, Thaddeus! I'm done being lied to!" She snapped, her voice faltering slightly as he told her something that sounded plausible. Micah Carrow did despise her... But just as she was about to tell him just that, he said something that re-sparked her anger. "Snogging her is just as significant as sleeping with her, you dolt!" Rose growled, wrenching her hand from his grasp. "But you didn't stop her from snogging you, did you? You sat back and bloody well enjoyed it!" She took a few steps backwards, her hands balling into fists at her sides as her voice slowly rose. "And what would've happened if I hadn't walked in on your fun? I'd bet more than a galleon that you would've been plenty happy if it'd gone further!" By the time she finished, the redhead was practically screeching at him, and her ears had flushed a deep scarlet. Why in Merlin's name had she ever thought going back was a good idea?

This is what heartbreak had felt like. This was how it had felt to ruin someones trust after so many years of nothing but promises that he had failed to keep. He failed, just like his best friend had told him he would. His chanced of ever making anything work was shot to pieces. But the thought of trying and never giving up lingered in his mind as he had looked the red head over once again. She was beautiful, stunning. And he was going to allow this all to slip from his fingers? No. He wouldn't dare. "Look, I had made a mistake by even going. I should have known it would have taken a turn for the worst, but please..." his hand reached for hers, but quickly retracted once he had noticed the sour look on her face. No, this couldn't be it' The Rose he had known for years was slowly turning against her - slipping away.
Quickly, he moved to the front of her. His masculine hands reaching out for her face. He wasn't going to hold back now - it was clearly now or never. Rose wouldn't stick around any longer. She had what she had came for. "Is it that hard to listen to me?!" His voice grew stronger, deeper. Yes, he had messed up. But the thought of another woman and laying in bed with her behind Rose's back was never his intentions. Thaddeus wanted nothing more to do with another woman except Rose. But, he could only say so much at this point. His word, in general, was ruined. "That moment... that kiss... it had meant nothing. Her forceful and eager lips were the first to touch mine. Should I have quickly retracted? Yes. Should I have never gone in the first place? Yes..." his eyes fell upon hers. "Did I wish to hurt you? no. Never in my life would I harm you." A smile smile crept across his face as he had fought back the hurt in his voice.
Thaddeus feared her answer to everything. But, he feared mostly her walking out that door. He knew he couldn't stop her. "So, if so you wish to walk out and never turn back-" He turned to the door stepping back. "I won't keep you. But I can only allow you to hear me out, Rose Weasley - Know what I would do for you." His voice grew soft as he kept his glance elsewhere. "Know what I have done for you and never forget that as you walk through that door." -- Thaddeus gathered her other belongings handing them over, his gut churning with the thoughts.

The redhead met his gaze as he looked over at her, using every last ounce of courage she had to keep her head held high and her gaze steady. Merlin, this was heart wrenching. She hated arguing with him; always had, and probably always would. Rose said a lot of things she didn’t mean when she was angry, and although it felt refreshingly good to say them while she was under the influence of her anger, she always felt extremely guilty once she’d cooled down. This was why she took a moment to consider what he was saying before responding, momentarily closing her eyes as she considered her next move. ”Look Thaddeus, I don’t care why you went there or that you regret it now, I just care that at the time you didn’t think it was a bad idea to go on a date with someone who wasn’t your girlfriend!” She was trying extraordinarily hard to keep her temper in check… and for the time being it was working, but that still didn’t stop her from flinching away when he tried to reach for her hand. Rose just couldn’t deal with any sort of physical contact on top of all the emotions she was feeling… Merlin, it would throw her completely over the edge!
”It’s not listening to you that’s the problem.” She articulated, her words clipped and her voice taking on a warning tone. Her hold on her temper was slowly growing weaker, and if he kept talking like this, she suspected that she’d lose control of it completely. Pulling away from him, she wrapped her arms loosely around her waist. ”Thad, I... I can’t do this again.” The redhead murmured, casting her gaze downward. ”You’ve already hurt me, whether it was intentional or not, and I don’t know if I could ever move past that.”
As far as Rose could tell, their discussion was over… nothing new had been established, and she still felt as lost as she had when she’d gotten there. She was silent as he handed her her things, nodding slightly as a thanks before turning to leave. But then he spoke again, and his words made her hesitate and the stop. Merlin, she hated him; the redhead hated that he knew her well enough to understand exactly what went through her mind when she was angry… and that he also knew what to say to make her forgive him. She shouldn’t forgive him. Hell, if she had any sense at all, she’d walk straight out that door and never think of him again. But she just couldn’t do it, not after everything he’d said. Yes, Hugo would call her a fool for believing him, and she might regret it later on, but that was something future-Rose would have to deal with. Right now, she didn’t want to have to worry about any of that.
Sighing, she turned back around, dropping her things on the ground and wordlessly making her way over to him. Rose stopped just in front of him, hesitating for a moment before reaching up and wrapping her arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. Merlin, had she ever missed him.

Crushed. That was all to be explained about the, once strong hearted, Lestrange boy. -- Thaddeus watched closely at all of her possible facial expressions. He knew damn well that he had seen them time and time before- She was unsubtle. And, perhaps, even slightly unsure of the two. For the past few years Thaddeus had done nothing more than try to make an attempt at being faithful with the young Weasley girl. He had even cut out late night visits to the old pub located only a couple of roads from him. He avoided every woman who had lingered in his direction-eager to take on his attention for a night, if that. The point is, he had faith in himself, in rose, in the relationship that the two had blossomed. Was it worth allowing her to say she was through? No. Would he allow her to leave and continue not to speak afterwards? Perhaps. He wasn't one for confrontation unless it had involved nothing more than work itself. Thad dreaded the arguments between he and Rose. Avoiding them was always the best. But, right now, he had nothing more to say. - Speaking what he had felt- and simply trying- Thaddeus let out a deep sigh as she had retrieved her stuff from his grasp. Allowing his hand to linger there for a few moments, he closed his eyes tightly and tried to hold his composure. Who knew a Weasley would get the best of Rabastan Lestrange's boy.
Opening his eyes, Thaddeus focused on Rose as he drew his hand close to his side. He watched as she turned away from him- she never did that. He watched as she was giving up on them. "Please, be safe on your journey home." His voice cracked slightly as he quickly averted his sight and focused more on the floor. For the first time in years, he was lost- confused. But, within just those few moments, Thaddeus heard a soft thud as arms embraced him tightly- Red hair grazed his chin as he had felt the warmth of Rose Weasley's body pressed tightly against his own. Slowly, but quickly enough, Thad wrapped her up close to him. The essence of her perfume tickling his nose with long-evening memories. It was her touch that had set him off in the beginning- back in their fourth of fifth year. He couldn't quite remember what it was about, or what had happened, but for the first time in his life he had taken a Weasley's defense against one of his own. He was there. For her. Through it all no matter what the situation had been. And now, she was leaving. But he could tell she nor he had wished to let one another go.
Pressing his lips against the top of her head, Thaddeus Lestrange could feel the emotions begin to come on. He could feel the gut-ache that had presented itself quickly. Cringing at the thought of crying, Thad tightened his jaw and began to grit his teeth. It was then, at that very moment, he had experience the feeling. Thaddeus Rodolphus Lestrange was crying - not by much- but it was slightly noticeable. A small, lonely tear had drifted down his face as he slowly inched himself away from her grip. His heart- full of pain. Excruciating pain. "Maybe you should go..." He quivered, raising a free hand to brush away his own tears. "I don't wish to keep you waiting." 'NO! Stop her, you idiot!' His thoughts were beginning to get a little overwhelming. He couldn't stop her. It was her own choice and he should have never listened to Micah. - Quickly, he turned away from her and headed to his back porch. Thad grasped tightly at the rail, rocking back and forth in a subtle manner. 'Stop with the crying. Your father would be sickened by your actions, Lestrange.' He wanted to get away. He couldn't handle the thought of her with someone else anymore.
