Patronuses are unique to each wizard and witch. When a witch or wizard uses the charm 'Expecto Patronum', their patronus can take the shape of an animal. This can only be done with a happy memory, one that is powerful. If a wizard or witch has yet to master the charm, the shape of their patronus will be a non-corporeal shape or the charm simply will not work. It depends on the power of the memory. A patronus can be used against a dementor, so it's feeding off of the patronus versus the soul of the witch or wizard. In order to claim a patronus shape, your character must be 17 since this charm is very difficult to learn. Patronus forms may only repeat twice meaning if two people already have wolves as their patronus form, you must pick a different animal. Ordinary animals are common. Magical animals/creatures as patronuses are rare.
